ROSALIND (2016 - 2018) - Dance

James Cousins' bold reinvention of As You Like It distills Shakespeare's play into a contemporary story that focuses on Rosalind's gender-bending methods of survival, placing her in modern day Seoul, South Korea where the question of women's rights is a relatively new & pressing topic.

Featuring an original text by poet Sabrina Mahfouz as performed by Jasmine Blackborow, the soundtrack moves between extremes of lush ambience, eerie sound design, hi-energy rock/rap & Arab-influenced  'secular prayer' vocals.

Rosalind premiered at Daehakro Arts Centre, Seoul in October 2016.
